The purpose of this web site is to publicly present what I believe.  In doing this, I present evidence that the Bible is the complete scripture containing the full gospel of Christ and that the gospel is rational. It is my hope to encourage the reader to use God's gift of discernment to honestly evaluate the Bible regarding its completeness and accuracy. It is my testimony that the Bible is a trustworthy witness for truth.

This web site contains essays that I have written on Christian theology. It represents my personal testimony as opposed to the official doctrines of any organization. It is the result of my reading, studying, and praying. I believe that most of the contents are consistent with all of mainstream Christianity, and to the best of my knowledge all of it is consistent with evangelical Christianity. However, I don't claim that it is error-free.

Respectful Dialogue

I believe that everyone has the right to be respected for his or her own beliefs. Therefore, although people who access this site may disagree with the contents, I hope that no one will be offended because of differences in beliefs. Nothing in this site is intended to be argumentative or to "put down" the beliefs of others. But it is the intent of this web site to defend basic Biblical Christianity from arguments that are made against it. In explaining the doctrines that I do believe, it is necessary to compare them with the alternatives in each case.  If I only present the supporting scripture for my beliefs and refrain from presenting the scriptures that invalidate the opposing views, then I have failed to fully support my belief.  People would be able to argue that I have not fully considered all relevant scriptures and that I would not have shown the the Bible conclusively presents what I am claiming that it does.  Furthermore, I believe that every alternative doctrine that I have described in this web site as differing from Biblical Christianity is held by several religious groups - none by any single group.  Indeed, many of the alternative doctrines that I have described are held by every religious group outside of mainstream Christianity. Therefore, in a positive and respectful way I am always interested in discussing beliefs with others who have different views. I admire people who have sufficient strength in their beliefs to be able to discuss these issues in an open environment without becoming personally offended.

Normally when people ask me why do I believe what I believe or why I have made the decisions in my life that I have made, I provide a brief answer in accordance with their level of questioning. I try to follow the counsel of the apostle Peter, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." (1 Peter 3:15) When a brief answer is not adequate, and when greater detail is appropriate, I use this web site as a more thorough documentation of my testimony. A belief system that can't stand scrutiny is not acceptable. People are often admonished against debating belief systems because such debates usually result only in hurt feelings, but that shouldn't be used as an excuse for failing to justifying the rationality of a belief system.  Furthermore, the apostle Paul teaches us not to passively ignore incorrect doctrine, but to refute those who oppose sound doctrine. (Titus 1:9) He also wrote, "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Cor 10:5) I would appreciate your feedback.

Open Discussion

My understanding of truth is not finalized. I am still learning, seeking additional truth. I am open to input, and if anyone informs me of errors or omission in this web site, I will update it accordingly.  I am truly open to corrective inputs.  I simply want to pursue truth - not to prove that my personal position is more correct than someone else's. Therefore, please note that there are updates to this site and to the individual articles from time to time. So, if you do send critical feedback, please check beforehand to see if your comments are based on the current revision of the applicable page. Note on Bible quotations. The New International Version (NIV) is used for all quotations of the Bible in this web site, except where noted, because it is the clearest and easiest to understand translation for today's English reader. Furthermore, it is by far the most widely used English translation of the Bible today. For those readers who are more comfortable with another translation, such as the King James Version (KJV), I suggest that they look up the verses quoted in this web site using their own copy of the Bible to assure themselves that the quotations are equivalent in meaning.
